Cache Creek Trail, Jackson Hole, WY

Cache Creek Trail, Jackson Hole, WY (Jan. 18, 2016)

Erin (my lovely wife) and Tanya (my awesome mom) cruising up Cache Creek Trail
Its amazing how fast plans can change in my family! Yesterday, the plan was to take the whole family to Harriman State Park for a day of skiing and a picnic at the warming hut...well, last minute Erin and I found out that our two oldest kids, Hunter and Scarlett, had a downhill ski lesson at Targhee Ski Resort. Initially we thought  they had the day off because of the holiday.

Scraping snow clods and applying quick glide.
The school that our kids go to helps sponsor and transport students to the ski hill every Monday during the months of January and February if they are interested in learning how to downhill ski or snowboard.

Well, this adjustment required us to scramble with what we were going to do with the rest of our day after the kids left. We decided to head toward Jackson Hole, WY to hit up some of our favorite thrift stores and grab lunch at the best restaurant in Jackson Hole, Merry Piglets!

Love being outside with my lady!
Thrift store shopping is a must if you are trying to outfit a family on a budget. Its amazing what types of high quality outdoor gear you can find at second hand stores. Today I found an awesome pair of Patagonia running shoes ($5.00), a pair of BRAND NEW Pearl Izumi sirocco fleece mitten's ($5.00), and a pair of North Face zip off nylon pants for Scarlett ($3.00). Not a bad day!

Merry Piglets is a Mexican food restaurant in Jackson. Pretty much our go to is the Buena Nacho. $13.00 gets you a heaping pile of delicious nachos topped with shredded beef.

After an awesome meal we decided to head toward Cache Creek Trail. This is a super popular trail right on the edge of Jackson. Lots of people like to walk the pathway with their dogs or ski up the groomed trail. The weather was a little warm for ski snow (34° F) and we had to apply glide wax to our ski's to keep the snow from glooping up on the bottom

The trail follows a gentle slope uphill from the parking lot and it parallels a little stream.

Easy little trail to get outside for a little bit.
We made it about a mile up the trail before we stopped and took a couple of photos then turned around.  We would have kept going but we had to make it back home in time to pick up the kids from ski school. The way back was a nice easy ride down a gentle slope back to the car.

I definitely recommend this trail to anyone who just wants to get outside for a little bit and enjoy the area. The trail would be great for beginner skiers.

Adventure on!
